Topics

Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference: Call for Abstracts

The 23rd Annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference and 9th International Conference on Green and Sustainable Chemistry is taking place in Reston, VA from June 11 through 13, 2019.

Once again we are chairing a session focused on the electronics industry and its supply chain. While the theme is "closing the loop" of the chemical life cycle, the conference will accept abstracts that span the breadth and depth of green and sustainable chemistry and engineering topics. Of particular interest are abstracts that emphasize a systems level, life cycle perspective focusing on the role green and sustainable chemistry plays in the design and implementation of recycling, separation chemical/molecular vs physical), and concentration or valorization of byproducts/wastes/waste heat/CO2 and other chemicals.

Learn more and submit an abstract - or consider sponsoring our session - at the GC&E website. But hurry, abstracts will only be accepted through January 14!

EU RoHS: Things are going to get Real

My article for TTI's MarketEYE Resource Center this month focuses on two issues that will define EU RoHS - and potentially other markets' RoHS-like regulations - for the decade of the 20s:

While feedback to governments from industry in stakeholder consultations like these usually only comes from large manufacturers and industry associations, the changes the EU ultimately makes to regulatory requirements like RoHS impact every manufacturer of EEE that sells their products in the EU, along with their supply chains.

Following the process is important - the more you understand what's going on, the more prepared you will be to meet the requirements.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Sustainable Electronics: The Workshop at Polytechnique Montréal

I recently attended a two-day workshop on Sustainable Electronics at Polytechnique Montréal on the University of Montréal campus. Hosted by the Advanced Electroactive Materials group and Professor Clara Santato in the Engineering Physics department, presentations covered an broad range of interesting topics, including

Opportunities exist to fund and work with talented students and researchers, and to contribute to future workshops! Contact me to find out how.
